Praying in the Holy Spirit

Jude 1:17-25           December 30, 2012             Link for audio/video/document

As God overcame death and persevered into eternal life in spite of death “through Jesus Christ” – so too does God “keep” us to overcome and persevere in His love during times of difficulties in this life and struggles in the church. God will “keep” us in His love as we set our minds of the things of the Spirit by building up our most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit as we are shaped by the Word of God!

New Life in Christ: Eternal Love

Romans 8:31-39         December 23, 2012         Link for audio/video/document

God's love for us is victory over all possible foes. God's love is powerful enough to overcome any obstacle that life can throw in our path. Our victories in life are not won far off in heaven but right now in the midst of life itself. Our new life in Christ through the eternal love of God will make us more than conquerors in times of struggle, bringing us ever nearer to God and ever more “conformed to the image of his Son”- changing our deep groaning into everlasting joy!

"I Like Adoption"

New Film Premiere - I Like Adoption. from ILikeGiving.com on Vimeo.

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the
spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as
sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit
that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs
with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
                                          Romans 8:14-17

God is Always Higher

The words of skydiver Felix Baumgartner just before his record-breaking jump
of 119,846 feet (24.26 miles), freefalling at a maximum speed of Mach 1.24
(833.9 miles per hour) for four minutes and twenty seconds on October 14, 2012.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9

Don't Let Nobody Drag Your Spirit Down - Eric Bibb

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?
My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber.
                       Psalm 121:1-3

You might slip, you might slide
You might stumble and fall by the roadside
But don't ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you 'round

Walk with the rich, walk with the poor
Learn from everyone, that's what life is for
And don't let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you 'round

Some say yes, some say no
Some wait and see which way the wind blows
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
When we're walking up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you 'round

Well, I might say things that sound strange to you
And I might preach the gospel, I believe it's true
I won't let nobody drag my spirit down
Yes, I'm walking up to heaven, people
Won't let nobody turn me 'round

You might slip, you might slide
You might stumble and fall by the roadside
But don't ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you 'round

New Life in Christ: Glorious Hope

Romans 8:18-30          December 16, 2012                 Link for audio/video/document

God’s purpose is always working toward the glorious hope we can know in Jesus Christ - that our new lives and our redeemed bodies will, by the power of the Holy Spirit, enable us to fulfill God’s purpose for us in the new creation as real sons and daughters of God - as all things in our lives are working for the good according to the purpose of God to be ever more conformed into the likeness of Jesus, as we have being chosen and called and justified and ultimately glorified by the sovereign hand of God!

New Life in Christ: Children of God

 Romans 8:12-17         December 9, 2012      Link for audio/video/document

God gave us the Holy Spirit to not only transform, recreate and perfect us, but also to
empower us to intimately trust God. The Holy Spirit does so by God’s love which he
pours out into our hearts so that God’s love might spill over in our response to everything.
By His love we need not fear condemnation nor should we fear freedom in the Spirit –
because we are sons and daughters of God.The new life we have in Christ is that by the
power of the Holy Spirit we are now children of God.

gives new life. The Holy Spirit is the core strength of our “righteousness.”There will
be “no condemnation” - no death - for those who have new life in Jesus!

Behold Our God - Sovereign Grace Ministries

"Behold your God!" . . .
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand
and marked off the heavens with a span,
enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure
and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?
Who has measured the Spirit of the LORD, or what man shows him his counsel?
Whom did he consult, and who made him understand?
Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge,
and showed him the way of understanding?
Isaiah 40:9, 12-14

Psalm 62 Song - Aaron Keyes

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us.
Psalms 62:5-8

Finding and Following the Lamb of God

The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Follow me." (John 1:43)

We seek Jesus because Jesus has been seeking us. When we seek Jesus, we will find Christ; when we don’t seek Jesus he will find us and he will give us a new name. We follow Jesus because Jesus has found us. Jesus has authority to call anyone he wants to follow him, regards of who they are or who they are not, because he has the sovereign authority of God to determine our destiny. Jesus is our ladder to God!

Amazing Grace/No Not By Might/Are You Washed - Robin Mark

Fishers of Men - Rhonda Vincent

"Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men."
Mark 1:17

Rise and follow me
I'll make you worthy
Rise and follow me
I'll make you fishers of men.
Rise and follow me
I'll make you worthy
Rise and follow me
I'll make you fishers of men.

Peter, John, and James
Could never be the same
After they heard him say
I'll make you fishers of men.

Cast your nets aside
and join the battle tide
He will be your guide
To make you fishers of men.

Jesus bore the cross
To gather in the lost
Oh what a might cost
To set us free from sin.

The Powerful Faith of Witness

“I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God." (John 1:34)

Jesus is the promised hope of God, the preeminent power of God, and the presence of one true God! We “bear witness” to that message when we boldly live out our “faith” in God before the world we live in. God has given us “a voice” to use to point people to Jesus!

Creation Calls: Are You listening? - Brian Doerksen

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
Psalms 19:1-5

The Fullness of God in Jesus Christ

And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. (John 1:16)

Jesus is the Sovereign God of the Universe, the Word of God, the Light and Life of God; the Sovereign Savior of the World who empowers spiritually powerless sinners to believe and fully receive him as their Lord and Savior; the Sovereign Grace of our Salvation who is full of grace and truth – and from his fullness, we have all received grace upon grace!
