Groaning for Glory
Romans 8:18-30 May 17, 2015 Link for audio/video/manuscript
The good purpose of God is that he foreknew us and predestined us and called us and justified us so we might be glorified by being “conformed to the image of his Son” through suffering. God is in the process of bringing to completion his plan to restore us as his image bearers so that we, like Christ in his humanity, may perfectly reflect the glory of God and reign with him over all creation. In the meantime God uses everything – “all things” that happens to us now, particularly trials, struggles, pain and suffering - to bring about His good purpose. The cross, as God’s Son died on it, became the image of God’s love for a wounded world. Now we are bearing that image along with Jesus as we groan together with him for the glory to come!
