Giving to God: Building the Body of Christ

Acts 2:42-47                 January 19, 2014                Link for audio/video/document

We who claim Christ cannot truly follow Jesus apart from being intimately connected, committed and involved in the community of the church. None of us sin alone, we can never serve alone and we will not succeed alone. Christ-centered, God-exalting, Spirit-filled churches are built on the hearts and lives of those who given themselves to God by being baptized and devoted to spiritual maturity, community, worship and prayer. This is what we have been called to together!

The Sin Underneath All Sins - Martin Luther

"The sin underneath all our sins is to trust the lie of the serpent that we cannot trust the love and grace of Christ and must take matters into our own hands." Martin Luther

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.  Proverbs 3:5-7

Giving to God: A Living Sacrifice

Romans 12:1-21        January 5, 2014       Link for audio/video/document

We are “the hands of Christ” when we are witnesses for Jesus to the world we live in. We were created in the image of a grace-giving God, and therefore we are to graciously give of ourselves as God sacrificially gave to us through Jesus Christ – so we might be living witnesses for Jesus Christ by being living sacrifices for God. Our grace-giving God is pleased when we give Him our best. Our sacrifices to God are “holy and acceptable to God” when we give Him the best we have to offer. We are “living sacrifices” when the sacrificial giving of ourselves to God reveals that Jesus Christ is the most precious treasure in our lives
